Lisa Kudrow’s Online “Web Therapy” Pays Off

Lisa Kudrow, our favorite quirky Friend, will host the 15^th Annual Webby Awards, June 13.  The 47 year –old actress is also the star of Webby Award Winning “Web Therapy”, a web-series in which she plays online therapist Fiona Wallice. The Webby Awards are the production of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences and honors exceptional work involving the internet.  Founded in 1998, the membership includes such notables as David Bowie (Musician, Performer), Arianna Huffington (Political Columnist), and Richard Branson (anything and everything Virgin).

One of the quirks of the Webby Awards is the strict policy that limits acceptance speeches to just 5 words.  As host, Lisa will be responsible for enforcing the word limit.  Will she employ newfound skills of psychotherapy or pull out purely psycho-Phoebe -antics to keep the winners in line?

According to IADAS Executive Director David-Michel Davies, “Lisa Kudrow has really embraced online entertainment, using her iconic style and sense of humor to create ‘Web Therapy,’ one of the funniest web series today.”  But wait! There’s more!  Ms. Kudrow doesn’t merely star in “Web Therapy”.  The “Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion” star actually created the show, and it’s pretty certain her zany talent is responsible for the program’s addition to the Showtime lineup.  While “Web Therapy” roped in the Best Comedy title, Lisa took home the prize for Best Individual Performance in an Online Video.  Mr. Davies added, “She is the natural choice to host this year’s Webby Awards, having been recognized by the Academy for her outstanding role as internet-based therapist Fiona Wallice, creating a whole new character to love for years to come.”

Lisa has been busy since the end of Friends.  In addition to her role on “Web Therapy”, the kooky girl we love to love has appeared in “Easy A” (Sony Pictures, 2010), and has guest-starred on “Friends” co-star Courtney Cox’s, “Courgartown”.

The Year of Jennifer Lopez

Just a year ago, many were thinking of “Jenny from the block” as “Jenny who?” Twelve months later, Jennifer Lopez is anything but a has been. When the 41-year-old singer was named to replace departing judges, Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi for the 10th season of “American Idol,” many were skeptical. Still the likeable diva from the Bronx brought her own compassionate “je ne sais quoi” to the show and made America fall in love with her all over again. As the “Idol” season wraps, Lopez couldn’t be hotter. Lopez has America in awe once again, in fact it seems like we always have a love relationship with Jennifer.

Jennifer’s success on the number one-rated show has spilled over to her other pursuits. Her new dance club single, “On the Floor,” which was released in January, 2011 gained worldwide attention and peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 list, the first top 10 placement for Lopez since 2003. This past month, she released the album, “Love?” which includes the track.

However, it’s not all about music for Lopez. She recently signed to voice Shira, a sabre-toothed tiger in the upcoming animated movie, “Ice Age 4: Continental Drift,” the fourth installment in the popular series which is scheduled to come out in the summer of 2012. Her fragrance line includes 16 scents for men and women, the most recent release of which, Blue Glow by JLO debuted in 2010.  To top all of that, Jennifer was named the “Most Beautiful Woman in the World” by “People” magazine in 2011.

Jennifer isn’t all business either. The entertainment sensation is married to fellow singer, Marc Anthony, her third husband. The couple has fraternal twins, Max and Emme, born in February, 2008. Lopez is also active in a variety of charity causes. Among these are Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the March of Dimes.

Let’s hope that likeable Jenny parlays her stellar year into the Decade of Jennifer Lopez. I think it will.

Christina Aguilera sure has evolved as a celebrity since her roots as a contestant on Star Search and performing on the popular TV series The Mickey Mouse Club in the early 1990′s. Fresh off of a divorce from music marketing executive Jordan Bratman, who she wed on November 19, 2005 and divorced on April 15, 2011, Aguilera quickly jumped back into the dating pool – and into the party life.

Most recently, she has been consistently dating, a movie production assistant and guitarist in Nate Mott Band. They met on the set of the film “Burlesque” which Aguilera recently starred in. The couple has been a paparazzi favorite ever since they started dating, mainly for their hard partying ways. However, Aguilera has done more than just partying, including working as a new judge on the hit television show American Idol, and performing for a number of huge events – some of which she blew the crowd away and some of which she made a bit of a fool of herself (i.e. forgetting the lyrics to the national anthem and nearly falling on stage during a group performance with some of America’s greatest female vocalists).

Aguilera’s and Rutler’s troubles have been quite the headlines lately. Some of which include a DUI for Rutler who was arrested around 2:45 AM on March 1, 2011 in West Hollywood (which was later refuted, as Rutler’s blood alcohol level was later determined to be under the legal limit in the state of California). He wasn’t the only one charged, however. Christina also got a public intoxication charge, however she was released the same day and not prosecuted.

Aguilera sure seems to be hitting plenty of highs and lows these past couple of months, but that doesn’t mean she won’t jump out of this mess swiftly, as she has consistently proved herself as one of the top singers, as well as a hard worker. Let’s just hope she’s going through a post-divorce stage that will end as quickly as it began.
